WATCH OUT!!!

Daryl’s FIT TIP of The Day: WATCH OUT
If you’re health conscious and eat healthy fruits and vegetables during the winter you need to WATCH OUT!

During the winter months, local produce is limited or not available at all. Therefore, most of the fruits and vegetables come from other countries Costa Rica, Mexico, and Chile.

These countries do not follow the U.S. agriculture regulations of pesticide restrictions and use LARGE amounts of the pesticide DDT to kill insects off the produce crops. DDT is classified as a Class 2 carcinogen. It is an endocrine disruptor and can get stored in fat cells, never to be released from the body. Endocrine disruptors, such as DDT, can block specific receptor sites on cells, making them either inhibited or over-productive, resulting in alterations in the body systems.

Also, these countries use human fecal matter as fertilizer, making the risk of E-coli greater, especially in green leafy vegetables.

So beware of soft-skinned fruits and vegetables from other countries. Now there is one SUPER food that you can enjoy without worrying about the pesticides is AVOCADO. The avocado has a hard enough shell to protect the inside against pesticide penetration.
