Saving Face

Daryl’s FIT TIP of the Day: SAVING FACE
Face skin, especially around the eyes, is very sensitive and delicate. We lose skin cells every day. One way of increasing disruption of cellular strength of the skin cells of the face is to over scrub the area with a face cloth or abrasive scrub pad. It’s important to lightly wash and rinse the face to maintain the cellular integrity and to keep the natural occurring oils present. The natural oils help provide the youthful appearance to the skin. It is recommended that when showering to wash the entire body while lightly washing the face, or to wash the face only once a week to avoid losing a high concentration of cells.

When drying off with a towel it is important not to aggressively wipe off the excess water on the face, but rather dabble the face with the towel. Also, there is no need to wash your face with soaps and lotions everyday, because this can remove the essential oils that the skin needs to maintain healthy skin.

During allergy season try to avoid excessively rubbing the eyes when they are itchy. Constant rubbing will weaken the cellular integrity of the skin cells around the eyes causing “bags” to develop and premature wrinkling of the skin. Use eye drops to help alleviate the burning and itching.
