Chronic Pain

Daryl’s FIT TIP of the Day:
Chronic pain is debilitating. Dealing with chronic can cause severe depression, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, and anger. Chronic pain is influenced by: physical trauma, emotional stress, physical stress, cellular dysfunction or disease, and nutritional deficiencies.

One common trigger for increasing chronic pain in the body is a deficiency in magnesium. 80% of Americans are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium is an essential mineral that helps block the brain’s receptors to glutamate, a neurotransmitter that may cause your neurons to become more hypersensitive to pain. Physical and emotional stress depletes the body of magnesium increasing pain symptoms. Also, certain medications deplete magnesium in the body increasing the risk of chronic pain.

If you suffer from chronic pain it is important to have a thorough exam by your doctor to determine the actual root cause of the pain. It could be as simple as increasing your magnesium level.
