Positive Language helps Improve Health

Activity in the left hemisphere of the brain (measured as glucose consumption) accompanies positive emotions such as cheerfulness and approach behaviors. Negative emotions and avoidance behaviors are associated with right-brain activity. The language region of the brain is located in the vicinity of the left perisylvian fissure, and the evidence points to the positive effect of language (reading, talking, writing) on mood. Engaging in healthy language behaviors can help boost energy and improve emotional fire storms.
